Aaron Wagner is a research associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart, focusing on the development and implementation of robotic fabrication techniques for load-optimised timber slabs for the upcoming LCRL project.
Before joining ICD, Aaron earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Stuttgart, with a specialisation in lightweight construction.
With a growing interest in digital fabrication methods, he graduated with distinction from the M.Sc. Program in Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) at the University of Stuttgart.
His master's thesis, titled “HygroDesign“, explores potential architectural applications of functionally graded, self-shaping wood components. This thesis was developed in collaboration with his fellow students Alex Reiner and later ICD colleague, Edgar Schefer, building upon their first-year studio project, “HygroShell“.
