Edgar Schefer is a research associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart. His current focus involves the development and execution of robotic fabrication techniques for the segmented shell of the upcoming LCRL.
Before joining the ICD, Edgar completed various projects as an architectural designer in Coblence, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Applied Science.
With a growing interest in computational methods, he graduated with distinction from the M.Sc. Program Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) at the University of Stuttgart.
His Master Thesis, “HygroDesign,” explored potential architectural applications of functionally graded self-shaping wood components, which he developed with his colleagues Alex Reiner and Aaron Wagner, building upon their first year's studio project, “HygroShell.”
