ICD Research Associate Nils Opgenorth will present his ongoing research as part of the 28th Project Days of Building Research event.
His project Lights-Off On-Site Timber Construction investigates the integration of a multi-scalar robotic team designed to augment traditional construction equipment with advanced digital control systems and innovative distributed clamping robots. This comprehensive system aims to optimize construction processes while broadening architectural design possibilities, particularly in timber structures.
A total of 22 ongoing Zukunft Bau research projects are presented and discussed in the following thematic areas:
- Dealing with existing buildings
- Economic and climate-neutral planning and (re)construction/AI
- Renewable raw materials
- Research in wood and concrete construction, hemp as reinforcement
- Climate-adapted construction – heat protection
- Fire protection/acoustics and sound insulation
- Building hygiene – ventilation
- Building operation
- Pollutant leaching
