Hybrid Flax Pavilion nominated for German Sustainability Award
The Hybrid Flax Pavilion of the Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture" (IntCDC) focuses on bio-based building materials and a resource-efficient load-bearing construction system. The research building demonstrator has now been shortlisted for the German Sustainability Award, Europe's most prestigious award for environmental and social commitment.
"We are delighted with the high level of recognition and are of course excited to see whether our project will be successful this autumn" says Professor Achim Menges, spokesperson of the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC. It would not be the first time that a German Sustainability Award had gone to Stuttgart: Back in 2020, the IntCDC team was awarded the special prize for digitalisation for the BUGA Wood Pavilion.
The German Sustainability Award in the Architecture category will be presented for the twelfth time in 2024 by the German Sustainability Award Foundation together with the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB e.V.) The prestigious award recognises buildings that combine transformative impact, innovation and outstanding design quality. This year, the jury nominated nine projects. The winning project will be announced on the German Sustainability Day on 29 November.
