Wangen Tower longlisted for Dezeen Award in the category sustainable building

The Wangen Tower's innovative design, utilising self-shaped timber components, explores sustainable architectural principles. With a height of 23 metres, its slender frame comprises 12 curved cross-laminated timber segments, each a mere 130 millimetres thick. Precise digital fabrication techniques enabled rapid onsite assembly, resulting in a breathtaking structure seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings.

The Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture" (IntCDC) conducted the research that led to the project and focuses on bio-based building materials and a resource-efficient load-bearing construction system.
