From October 28th to November 1st, Rebeca Duque Estrada will lead a workshop called Bootcamp Fibras Digitais, at the FabLab Casa Firjan. This workshop proposes an immersive experience in the universe of digital fiber architecture. Five days of intensive work will provide the participants with the tools and knowledge to discover the potential of natural fibers as a building material. The workshop starts with a lecture on fibrous architecture, followed by a tutorial on the digital plugin developed by Rebeca for the design of fiber structures. In the following days, the participants will work in groups to develop and propose a design to be built on a 1:1 scale. The workshop’s outcome comprises hand-wound natural-fiber furniture. Its the first time the process of coreless filament winding will be done in Brazil.
