Serban Bodea is a Research Associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction. He holds a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering from the Technical University Delft, having graduated With Distinction in 2014. Later that year, Serban joined the Hyperbody Research Group of TUDelft, where he worked as a Research Assistant and Educator in computational design and robotic fabrication, until 2016.
As practicing architect, Serban collaborated with ONL – Kas Oosterhuis, KCAP, IBA and Atelier Pro, on a number of interdisciplinary projects.
Since 2017 Serban works on the Research Project Add Fiber Fab and its related demonstrator project, the BuGa 2019 Fibre Pavilion, completed in April 2019. In this context, he conducts research on automated fabrication processes, interdisciplinary work, academia-industry collaboration and co-design.
His work in research is concurrent with his involvement in education: he mentored the Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) Master Thesis Projects in 2017-2018 and is currently teaching the ITECH 2019 Master in Architecture Studio together with colleagues from ICD and ITKE.
His doctoral work focuses on design-engineering and the development of automated fabrication strategies for large-scale, composite building systems with a particular focus on load-adapted Fibrous Morphology.
