Serban Bodea is a Research Associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction. He graduated with Distinction from the Technical University Delft, in 2014. His Thesis in Architectural Engineering, tackled digital design, simulation and additive manufacturing processes in architecture research. The same year, he joined the Hyperbody Research Group of TUDelft, where he worked as a researcher and tutor in computational design and robotic fabrication, until 2016.

As practicing architect, Serban worked in collaboration and for ONL, KCAP, IBA and Atelier Pro, on a number of interdisciplinary projects, internationally.

Serban worked on the BuGa 2019 Fibre Pavilion, completed in April 2019, for which he conducted research on automated fabrication processes in an interdisciplinary and academia-industry co-design environment. His work in research is concurrent with his involvement in education. He mentored the Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) Master Thesis Projects in 2017-2018 and is currently teaching the ITECH 2019 Master in Architecture Studio at the University of Stuttgart.

His current research work focuses on the development of design-engineering and automated fabrication strategies for large-scale, composite building systems with a particular focus on load-adapted Fibrous Morphology.
