Moritz Dörstelmann

Moritz Dörstelmann, born 1986, is a Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate at the Institute for Computational Design at Stuttgart University since 2011. He studied architecture at the RWTH Aachen University and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna where he graduated with distinction from the master class of Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher.

Focus of Moritz’s research are fiber composite structures and how their application in architecture can expand the architectural design repertoire and increase its performative capacity regarding functional integration and material efficiency. This includes investigations of functional fibrous morphologies in biological role models and natural material organization strategies, aiming for the transfer of their underlying principles into architecture by an integrative design processes employing computational design strategies and digital fabrication.

Moritz Dörstelmann worked on several internationally published and exhibited projects. He has been invited studio critic and gave lectures and workshops at various international institutions including the Harvard GSD.
