Axel Kilian is a computational design researcher and is exploring the shift towards embodied computation in architectural robotics – meaning buildings as robots. The shift from analog computation in the form of complex mechanism towards algorithmic and increasingly machine learning complexity is a profound one that affects the relationship between abstract computation and physical artifacts. Axel Kilian is currently an Assistant Professor at Princeton University, and has taught previously at TU Delft and MIT and holds a PhD and Master of Science in Architectural Studies in Computation from MIT.
