Frederik Ernst is a research associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart. Frederik holds a diploma-engineering degree in Architecture from the University of Stuttgart. His academic studies focused on digital design tools in Architecture. After his studies he work for Werner Sobek Engineers on complex facade constructions and for FAT LAB on freeform ventilated rainscreen cladding facades and other facade systems.

Frederik’s research is based within the framework of the Collaborative Research Centre (Sonderforschungsbereich) – 1244 “Adaptive Building Skins and Structures for the build Environment of tomorrow” in which he currently deales with the collaborative research project A02 entitled “Development of integrative design methods and computational design tools for adaptive structures and there digital fabrication”.
